Edgar Degas kept every portrait of his family that was painted in this House until the day he died.  We hope you enjoy reading and viewing the memories and observations of Degas' time in New Orleans during your visit!

Room Descriptions
~The Second Floor~

Estelle's Suite ~ This luxuriously appointed room is the showpiece of the house, perfect for a bridal suite or honeymoon. Hardwood floors, lighting from a cut crystal chandelier, magnificent draperies, a luxurious four-post King size bed and classic Victorian claw foot tub create an atmosphere of both intimacy and elegance. The private balcony has outdoor seating so that you can relax and enjoy the lovely view overlooking oak-lined Esplanade Avenue. The room also contains a day bed with a full size pull-out trundle, allowing the occupancy of up to four people.

Josephine's Room ~ The mood of this room is both playful and soothing, with an antique rocking horse among the classic cherry wood furnishings and four-post Queen size bed. On the wall hangs Degas' portrait of Josephine, his young niece, along with her photograph and documents from her life. The private bathroom features a classic Victorian claw foot tub with a shower attached. An adjoining door between the Josephine and Estelle rooms allows conversion to a spacious two-room suite for accommodation of families or larger groups.

Desiree's Room ~ This warm, welcoming room features a splendid four-post Queen size brass bed and elegant draperies at the window overlooking our picturesque courtyard. The real gem is the bathroom, however, where a deep, two person Jacuzzi tub provides a perfect retreat for romance and relaxation.

~ Note: The Mathilde & William Bell Suites are available for long-term corporate rental. They are located in the second wing of the Degas House, next door to the main building.

Mathilde's Suite ~ This large two-room suite can accommodate up to four people in its king size bed and full size sleeper sofa. The stylish furnishings, large Jacuzzi tub, kitchen and private balcony overlooking Esplanade Avenue make this a truly luxurious suite.

Williams Bell's Suite ~This is one of our most spacious suites; it has separate rooms and can accommodate up to four people in a king size bed and a four-post full size bed. This room also features charming furnishings, a large closet, Jacuzzi tub, kitchen and a private balcony overlooking our courtyard.

~ The Garrett ~
The rooms of the Garret are located on the third floor of the main house. They are named for the children of the household, Degas' nieces and nephews, and are modeled after 19th century artists' studios built into the eaves of the house. There are no windows, but all rooms have private baths, hardwood floors, charming antique furnishings and can accommodate two or three people. They are also available for long-term rental.
